TRAINING AIM
The Introduction to orbital welding course provided by Designer Group Training Academy is designed to instruct employees in the theory and practice of safe welding practices and techniques. Course also covers introduction to Safe usage of Power Tools.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
-Recognize different wielding techniques.
-Understand the limitations of specific welding tools.
-Conduct a safety risk assessment to allow proper selection of equipment.
-Ability to complete proper safety work permits e.g. Hot Work Permits, Safe Work Plan.
-Dangers of careless and unskilled methods.
-Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment.
-Health and Safety procedures.
-Use of PPE (Personal protective equipment).
-How to handle welding loads safely.
-Understanding of metals and materials and reaction to different temperatures.
-Welding Symbols and Codes.
-Recognize high purity handling procedures.
-Keep equipment safe and clean.
-Identify and set up purge line gas supply.
-Set up orbital welding equipment for use.
-Generate and adjust welding programs.
-Change weld head collets and tungsten.
-Change weld heads.
-Identify welding machine components.
-Prepare tube properly for welding.
-Complete positional welds.
-Be familiar with weld log formats.
-Identify defects in weld beads.
-Use of facing tool and potential hazards.
-Identify unacceptable welds.
